Book an interpreterThe language
For interpretation we cover court, asylum office and hospital settings. We match dialect — Iraqi, Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf, Sudanese, North African — to the speaker, not just "Arabic", which is a frequent client oversight.
Typical Arabic bookings
Parts of the meeting
An IEP meeting moves through several parts, and the parent needs to follow each one. The interpreter sits with the parent through all of them.
The evaluator explains scores and findings that often have no everyday word. The interpreter interprets what the evaluator says in full, and the parent's questions go back to the evaluator.
The team reads the goals for the year and lists the services, such as speech therapy or extra help in class. The parent can ask for a change, and the interpreter interprets the whole discussion in both directions.
The team talks about where the child will spend the school day. The parent says what they think, and the interpreter interprets every option and every answer.
The team goes through the written plan and the consent page with the parent. The interpreter interprets what the staff say about each part, and the parent's questions about it.
In-person IEP meetings
Most IEP meetings are held at the school, with the team around one table. When the parent comes in, the interpreter sits next to them, so the parent can speak with the team and look at the papers together. The school sets the time and sends the invitation. If no interpreter for the language lives near the school, the interpreter may travel from another area, and a trip beyond the interpreter's metro area is quoted as a separate line when you book.

The parent or guardian speaks with the team through the interpreter. The special education teacher and a general education teacher report on the child's progress in class, and a district representative joins for the district. The school psychologist or another evaluator explains the assessments, and the student may attend. The interpreter takes the seat beside the parent and interprets everything the others say, along with the parent's replies.
Beside the parent, the interpreter puts everything the staff say into the parent's language, and everything the parent says into English. Each speaker gives a few sentences and stops, and the interpreter then takes a turn, so nothing is left out and nothing is added. The interpreter keeps the meeting private, takes no side, and does not tell the parent what to agree to.
One booking
Schools often hold IEP meetings back to back in the same language. Book one interpreter for the block of hours, and list the meeting times and the students in the booking notes. A meeting in another language needs its own booking at the same school.
On-site, video or phone
An interpreter at the table is the usual choice when the parent comes to the school. Video and phone suit the cases below.

An interpreter in person suits a parent who comes to the school, a long meeting with many reports and a parent who prefers to read the papers with the team.

Video works when the parent or part of the team joins from another place and the draft plan can be shared on screen.
Video-Remote Interpretation for IEP Meetings
Phone fits a short follow-up call, or a parent who cannot come in and cannot join by video.

FAQ
The ones we hear most often, answered by our dispatch and project-management teams.
Can't find it here?
Yes. Enter the address of the district office or any other venue when you book. The interpreter reports to the address on the booking and interprets there.
Cancellations are made in writing. You get a full refund more than seven days before, 75% between seven days and 48 hours before, and no refund once the meeting is less than 48 hours away.
The hours you book set the price, and the total shows before you pay. Unused time is not refunded, because the interpreter is reserved for the whole booking.
At least 48 to 72 hours ahead, and earlier if you can.
70 languages. Spanish, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese and Mandarin are the easiest to schedule. Rare languages such as Burmese or Pashto need more notice.
Yes. Court-certified and medically credentialed Arabic interpreters are assigned to legal and clinical matters — Federal Court Interpreter Certification, state court rosters, CCHI / NBCMI for medical. For community, educational and corporate settings we assign professionally trained interpreters matched to the subject.
We distinguish MSA, Iraqi, Gulf, Egyptian, Levantine (Syrian / Lebanese / Palestinian / Jordanian), Sudanese and North African (Maghrebi) dialects. Modern Standard Arabic is used for written material but is rarely natural in spontaneous interpretation.
