How a VRI session works

From request to screen-share, with the right interpreter briefed.

Every Texliff VRI is pre-arranged. You know the interpreter’s name and credentials before they ever join — and they walk in already briefed on the encounter.

01

Schedule the session

Pick a language pair, the platform you use, and a time slot — usually 24–48 hours ahead.

02

Get a confirmed link

We send back a calendar invite with the interpreter's name and a join URL.

03

Interpreter joins muted

They unmute and begin once everyone is in the room — no handoff confusion.

04

Wrap with a recap

Optional: receive a written summary, transcript, or signed certificate of attendance.

Where teams use VRI

When a screen is the right room.

Telehealth visits

Specialist consults, follow-ups, and behavioral health sessions where visual cues matter as much as words.

Remote depositions

Witness testimony with a court-certified interpreter on Zoom or our secure room.

IEP & 504 meetings

Parents join from home, see the team, and follow the discussion in real time.

Government interviews

USCIS adjustment interviews, asylum hearings, and benefits intake conducted by video.

HR conversations

Investigations, disciplinary meetings, and offer-letter walkthroughs for distributed workforces.

Cross-border meetings

Vendor calls, customer success reviews, and partnership negotiations with limited-English participants.

Platform compatibility

We join your meeting, not the other way around.

Stay on the platform your providers, attorneys, or staff already use every day. Our interpreters connect as a guest into your room — no software switch for your team.

FAQ

Answers about video remote interpretation.

The ones we hear most often, answered by our dispatch and project-management teams.

Can't find it here?

01Is VRI HIPAA-compliant?

Yes. Texliff video sessions run on healthcare-grade tiers of Zoom, Teams, Webex, and our own browser room. All connections are end-to-end encrypted, no recording is enabled by default, and we sign BAAs for healthcare customers.

02Do you offer on-demand video interpretation?

No. Texliff VRI is scheduled in advance — typically 24–48 hours before the session. Booking ahead lets us assign a credentialed interpreter who is briefed on your matter rather than rotating through a generic queue.

03Which video platforms do you support?

Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex, Doxy.me, and our own zero-install Texliff room. The interpreter joins whichever platform you already use — no software switching for your provider or staff.

04How is VRI different from on-site interpretation?

VRI gives you the visual cues of an in-person session — body language, gestures, document review — without the travel time or cost. On-site is still preferred for certain courtroom appearances, surgical observation, and ceremonies.

05How do I book a VRI session?

Submit a request with your language pair, the date and time, the platform, and a short briefing on the encounter. We confirm with the interpreter's name and credentials and a calendar invite with the join URL.

06What is the minimum session length?

VRI sessions have a 30-minute minimum, billed in 15-minute increments past the booked window. We recommend booking 15 minutes longer than your estimate to avoid mid-call cutoffs.

07Can the same interpreter return for follow-up appointments?

Yes. Your dashboard remembers preferred interpreters per patient, matter, and language pair so the same trusted face joins recurring follow-ups.

08Which languages do you cover?

Over 100 languages into and out of English. Tier-1 languages (Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Arabic, Russian, Haitian Creole) are easiest to schedule short notice; rare languages confirm inside 5 business days.
