01Do you clean up the witness’s grammar?
Never. The witness’s errors, hedges, and restarts are evidence — often the most argued-over evidence in the room. The translation renders speech as spoken, marks anomalies with [sic] where clarity demands, and leaves the polishing to nobody.
02Can you preserve the page and line numbers for citation?
Yes — the translation tracks the original’s pagination and line structure so a citation to 74:12 lands on the same testimony in both versions. This is default practice for us on transcripts, not an add-on.
03Can you translate only the designated excerpts?
Yes, and most orders work this way. The Certificate of Accuracy states exactly which pages and lines were translated, which keeps a partial scope transparent to the court and opposing counsel. Expanding the scope later reuses the same glossary.
04The deposition was interpreted live and the transcript shows both languages.
Bilingual transcripts are familiar ground. We translate the foreign-language testimony and can flag places where the live interpretation on the record diverges from the witness’s words — a memo counsel sometimes finds more valuable than the translation itself.
