WhatsApp and most apps export full threads with timestamps in machine-readable form — cleaner, cheaper, and more complete than screenshots. Screenshots work when export is impossible; capture sender names and times in every frame.
Context protects credibility
A single hostile message cropped from its thread invites the question of what came before. Translating a reasonable window around the key messages usually strengthens rather than dilutes the exhibit — discuss the window with your attorney.

01Will courts accept translated WhatsApp screenshots?
Certified translations of chat evidence are filed in courts routinely, each exhibit carrying a signed Certificate of Accuracy and each message keeping its sender and timestamp. Authentication of the underlying screenshots is a separate legal question your attorney handles; our part is that the translation layer is unimpeachable.
02The messages are full of slang and inside jokes. How do you translate those?
For meaning, with the register kept — and with bracketed translator’s notes where a term or joke carries weight a literal rendering would lose. Linguists native in the source dialect handle these threads; slang mistranslated by a textbook reader is how chat evidence goes wrong.
03Do you translate the emojis?
Emojis stay in the translation as they appeared. Where one functions as language — a threat, an affirmation, an insult in context — a bracketed note records that function, so the reader is not left guessing at what both parties understood.
04Can you handle messages in two or three languages mixed together?
