Korean honorifics (존댓말) versus plain speech (반말) carry strong social meaning. Our interpreters match register to the speaker and flag when witness register unexpectedly shifts during testimony.

IEP meetings across buildings
The special education department books one link, and the parent, the school team and the district representative join from their own places.
The interpreter joins a board meeting or an information session for families, works in one language, and interprets each part after the speaker pauses.
What to know about video interpreters across a school district
When video is used
A district is spread over many buildings, so video brings the parent, the school team and the central office into one meeting. The coordinator books it once, adds one meeting link, and the interpreter joins as a guest from anywhere in the US. Video is also chosen when no interpreter for a family's language works near the school.
Who takes part
A coordinator or the special education department sets up the link. The parent or guardian joins with the school team, such as a teacher, the 504 coordinator or, for a results meeting, the evaluator. For enrollment, a staff member from the enrollment center takes their place. The interpreter joins as a guest.

The interpreter's role
The interpreter's job is to give the parent the same access to the meeting that the staff already have. Everything is interpreted in full, in both directions, and the interpreter does not shorten a question or leave out part of an answer. The interpreter keeps the meeting confidential, does not advise the family, and does not explain district rules or decisions in their own words.

Board meetings and information sessions
A board meeting or an information session for families has one language per interpreter. The speaker pauses after a few sentences so each part can be interpreted, which makes the meeting longer than it would be in English. Send the agenda and the speakers' names with the booking, so the interpreter has the terms and the names before the meeting.
On-site, video or phone

On-site
Book an interpreter at the address for a welcome center, a testing session or a hearing, where the family comes in person.
Questions from school districts about video interpreters
The ones we hear most often, answered by our dispatch and project-management teams.
Can't find it here?
01Can the district host the meeting on its own platform?
Yes. Add your Zoom, Teams or Google Meet link, and the interpreter joins it as a guest. If you prefer, we create a Texliff room link and add it to the booking.
02Can the interpreter join a hearing held on the district's link?
Yes. Add the hearing link to the booking and name the kind of hearing in the notes. The interpreter joins as a guest and interprets for the parent.
03Are public meetings recorded?
No. A session is recorded only when the customer asks, and the NDA and the encrypted connection apply to public meetings too.
04How is a long board meeting priced?
The hours you book set the price, and the total shows at checkout. If the agenda is long, book through the last item, because unused time is not refunded.
05How far ahead should we book?
At least 48 to 72 hours ahead, and earlier if you can.
06Which languages can a district book by video?
70 languages. Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin, Haitian Creole and Portuguese are among the easiest to schedule. Rare languages, such as Burmese or Pashto, need more notice.
07Are your Korean interpreters certified?
Yes. Court-certified and medically credentialed Korean interpreters are assigned to legal and clinical matters — Federal Court Interpreter Certification, state court rosters, CCHI / NBCMI for medical. For community, educational and corporate settings we assign professionally trained interpreters matched to the subject.
