Interpreters at a manufacturer

What to know about having an interpreter at your company

When the interpreter comes to your site

A manufacturer needs an interpreter whenever its people and its suppliers, customers or workers do not share a language. In person, the interpreter sits at the table, so people talk to each other directly. Sessions are held at the main office, at a plant or at a supplier's site, and each booking is for one address. A supplier audit is the exception, where the interpreter walks the facility with the auditor.

Who takes part

Your managers or engineers lead meetings with a supplier or customer, and in a negotiation the commercial and legal teams of both sides sit at the table. At a plant, trainers run sessions for employees and pause so each part can be interpreted, and HR meets employees one to one. The interpreter sits next to the person who speaks the other language.

The interpreter's role

The interpreter's job is to make each conversation as clear as it would be if everyone spoke one language. Terms, numbers and names are interpreted exactly, in both directions, and nothing is summarized. The interpreter is neutral, keeps what they hear confidential, and does not advise either side or comment on a deal.

Agenda, names and pauses

Send the agenda, the names of the people attending and the part and product terms with the booking, so the interpreter can prepare. In a meeting, each speaker finishes a thought before the interpreter speaks, and a trainer pauses every few sentences. Documents in another language that the meeting will go through can be translated into English before the day.

On-site, video or phone

Choosing between on-site, video and phone for a manufacturer

Sessions at one of your sites suit an interpreter in person. Video or phone is better when the people involved are in different places.

How it works

How manufacturers book an on-site interpreter

  1. Enter your details and get your instant quote

Choose the date and start time, give the address of the plant or office, and pick the language and the kind of session. The price for the booked hours shows right away.

  2. Place your order

Pay online to confirm. The booking opens in your dashboard, where you add the agenda, the names of the people attending and the check-in steps.

  3. Dispatcher runs and assigns an interpreter

Our dispatcher looks first at interpreters near the address, assigns one matched to the kind of meeting by experience, and confirms the name to you.

  4. The interpreter arrives at your venue

The interpreter arrives at the address, checks in, and works with your team for the booked hours.

What you receive

  • The interpreter's name before the day, sent by email and shown in your dashboard.
  • Trips within the interpreter's metro area, already in the hourly rate.
  • Bookings for every site in one dashboard, in your company's name.

Every file and session is covered by an NDA and sent over an encrypted connection. Clinical matters are handled in line with HIPAA.

FAQ

Questions about on-site interpreters for manufacturers

The ones we hear most often, answered by our dispatch and project-management teams.

Can't find it here?

01Can the interpreter go with our team between sites?

Book each site as its own session, with its own address and start time. The interpreter reports to the address on each booking.

02What if a meeting needs two other languages?

A meeting with two other languages needs two bookings, one per language, and they can share the same address.

03Can you send an interpreter to a plant outside a large city?

Yes. A plant in a small town gets an interpreter too, with more notice than a plant in a large metro area.

04How is an on-site session priced?

The price comes from the hours you book, and the total shows before you pay. A negotiation or a training takes longer with an interpreter, so book more time than the same session would take in English.

05Can we ask for the same interpreter for a training program?

You can ask for it in the booking notes. A booking is for the service, not for a particular interpreter, so we take the request into account and assign them when they are available.

06Which languages are available at a manufacturer?

70 languages. Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese and Portuguese are the easiest to schedule, and Burmese or Pashto need more notice.

07Are your Indonesian interpreters certified?

Yes. Court-certified and medically credentialed Indonesian interpreters are assigned to legal and clinical matters — Federal Court Interpreter Certification, state court rosters, CCHI / NBCMI for medical. For community, educational and corporate settings we assign professionally trained interpreters matched to the subject.
