Interpretation demand is heaviest in naturalization, hospital geriatrics, and legal aid. Dialect matters — Northern (Hanoi), Central (Huế), and Southern (Saigon) Vietnamese have clear phonological and lexical differences.

Where we interpret
An HR meeting is held where the employer sets it. Here are the places our interpreters go, and what to tell us about each one.
Many HR meetings are held in the HR office or a private meeting room. Tell us the floor and where visitors check in, and add the room to the booking notes.
Employers with plants, warehouses or job sites often hold the meeting in the site office. Tell us the gate or front desk where the interpreter checks in, and any visitor rules.
When an employee works at a branch away from the HR office, the meeting can be held at that branch. Book the address where the meeting takes place, and we look for interpreters closest to it.
In-person HR meetings
When the employee and HR meet in the same room, the interpreter sits with them and interprets in person. Employers book this for a disciplinary meeting, a review or an investigation interview held at their own site. If the interpreter has to travel beyond their metro area, the trip appears as a separate line in your quote before you pay.

The HR representative leads the meeting and explains why it was called. The employee responds to what HR raises and can ask questions. The manager sits in when the concern is about the job, and a union representative or a witness joins some meetings. The interpreter sits beside the employee, so the employee hears the whole meeting in their own language.
The interpreter's job is to let the employee follow the meeting the way an English speaker would. Each person speaks, pauses, and the interpreter interprets that part in full, in the first person, so the employee's own words reach HR. The interpreter is neutral, keeps what they hear confidential, and does not advise the employee or comment on company policy.
In the meeting
HR often writes up the meeting afterward. The interpreter speaks in the first person, so the write-up holds what the employee said, not a summary of it. Everything said in the meeting stays confidential under the interpreter's NDA.
On-site, video or phone
An interpreter in the room suits meetings where the employee and HR sit together. Video or phone works when they are in different places.

An interpreter in person suits a disciplinary meeting or an investigation interview held at the employer's site.

Video fits when the employee works at another location or from home and joins HR through a link.
Video-Remote Interpretation for HR Meetings
Phone fits a short follow-up, such as a question about a date or a form, when nobody needs to see a document.

Can't find it here?
Add the check-in steps, the room and any visitor rules to the booking notes in your dashboard. You get the interpreter's name before the day, so the front desk or security can expect them.
Name the interpreter in the booking notes. We book the service rather than a particular person, so we take the request into account and assign them when they are available.
Book the whole meeting, including time for HR to explain what happens next. Everything HR and the employee say is interpreted, and unused time is not refunded, so the total for your hours shows before you pay.
70 languages. Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Arabic, Haitian Creole and Korean are the easiest to schedule. A rare language, or a site far from a large city, needs more notice.
At least 48 to 72 hours ahead, and earlier if you can.
Cancellation is in writing. You get a full refund more than seven days before the meeting, 75% between seven days and 48 hours before, and no refund in the last 48 hours.
Yes. Court-certified and medically credentialed Vietnamese interpreters are assigned to legal and clinical matters — Federal Court Interpreter Certification, state court rosters, CCHI / NBCMI for medical. For community, educational and corporate settings we assign professionally trained interpreters matched to the subject.
Southern Vietnamese (Saigon) is most common in U.S. communities outside the DMV; Northern Vietnamese is used in government and formal media. We match dialect to the speaker's region of origin.
