Visits held at the clinic
Clinics book an interpreter for the visit types below. Where a visit type has a page of its own, the card links to it.
The first visit covers medical history, medicines and allergies, and the interpreter interprets the questions and the patient's answers.
Typical appointments
Patients with ongoing conditions return on a schedule, and the clinic can ask for the same interpreter at every visit.
Typical appointments
The therapist and the client meet in the clinic's counseling room, and the interpreter interprets what is said, including feelings, in the first person.
Typical appointments
The psychiatrist evaluates the patient in the office, and the interpreter renders each answer as it is given, without tidying it.
Typical appointments
The examining doctor sees the claimant at the clinic, and the interpreter works for neither side.
Typical appointments
The clinic or agency that schedules a disability exam books the interpreter, who interprets the history and the instructions during the exam.

Visits in person
Most clinic visits are held in person, in an exam room with the patient, the doctor and often a nurse or medical assistant. The interpreter sits next to the patient for the whole visit, including the part where the doctor examines the patient. The interpreter reports to the one address you booked, and our dispatcher looks for interpreters closest to it first. Away from the large metro areas, an interpreter still comes, with more notice.

In the exam room, a nurse or medical assistant takes measurements and asks about medicines, and the doctor examines the patient and explains the diagnosis. The patient answers and asks questions, and a relative may come along to listen. The interpreter sits with the patient and interprets for each person in turn, including a question the patient asks the nurse.
The interpreter carries every sentence across, so the patient follows the clinic as well as an English speaker would. The doctor asks, the interpreter interprets, and the answer goes back in the first person, so the doctor hears the patient's own words. The interpreter gives no medical advice, does not restate the diagnosis in their own words, takes no side, and keeps what is said confidential.
In the exam room
Many clinic patients return on a schedule for the same condition, such as a diabetes check or prenatal care. Each visit is its own booking, and you can ask for the same interpreter on every one. We assign them when they are available, and you get the name before each visit. Every question and answer is said twice, so allow a little more than the appointment slot.
On-site, video or phone
In person is the first choice for a visit that includes an exam. Video and phone fit when the visit looks like the cases below.

In person suits visits with a physical exam, new patients who have forms to fill in, and counseling that runs week after week.

Video suits a clinic visit where the patient or the doctor is elsewhere, or where no interpreter for the language works nearby.
Video-Remote Interpretation for Medical Clinics
Phone suits short calls about results, medicines or scheduling, where nobody needs to see anything.

What you receive
Every file and session is covered by an NDA and sent over an encrypted connection. Clinical matters are handled in line with HIPAA.
If you also need translations
Certified translations come from the same account, as a PDF the clinic can attach to the patient's file.
Medical records and vaccination records from abroad, translated so the doctor can read the patient's history.
Affidavits and other legal papers that come with an independent medical exam, translated for the examiner's file.
Birth, marriage and divorce certificates a patient brings, translated into English for the file.

Can't find it here?
The interpreter stays for the booked hours and interprets the doctor's instructions during the exam, as well as the talk before and after it.
The refund terms are in writing. A full refund applies more than seven days before the visit, 75% between seven days and 48 hours before, and no refund applies in the last 48 hours.
The rate is hourly, and the total for your booked hours shows before you pay. Unused time is not refunded, so book the slot with some margin for a visit that runs long.
At least 48 to 72 hours ahead, and earlier if you can.
70 languages. Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Arabic, Korean and Russian are the easiest to schedule at a clinic, and rare languages need more notice.
Yes. Court-certified and medically credentialed Spanish interpreters are assigned to legal and clinical matters — Federal Court Interpreter Certification, state court rosters, CCHI / NBCMI for medical. For community, educational and corporate settings we assign professionally trained interpreters matched to the subject.
Spanish varies meaningfully between Spain, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and the Southern Cone. We match linguists to the client's region and purpose — e.g. Mexican Spanish for U.S. courtrooms, neutral Latin-American Spanish for corporate L&D.
