What to know about working with video interpreters at a company
When video is used
Companies hold meetings by video when the people involved work at different sites, in different cities or in different countries. A video call also works when no interpreter for the language lives near the office, because the interpreter joins from anywhere in the US. You can set up the meeting on your own platform and send the link, or we create a Texliff room link for you.
Who takes part
A company meeting has a speaker on each side. Managers, supervisors or HR staff speak for the company, and the employees, suppliers or customers who speak another language answer for themselves. In a negotiation, each team may bring an attorney, and in a training, a trainer leads a group of employees. The interpreter joins the call as one more participant.

The interpreter's role
The interpreter makes the communication as clear as it would be if everyone spoke one language. Whatever a manager, a supplier or an employee says is interpreted in full, in both directions, including figures, dates and names. The interpreter stays neutral between the sides, keeps what they hear confidential, and adds no advice, opinions or explanations of their own.

Before the call
Send the agenda, the names of the people on the call and any draft or slides with the booking, so the interpreter can prepare the terms. Add the figures, part numbers and product names you expect to use in the notes. Each speaker talks in short parts, so a call in two languages runs longer than the same call in English.
On-site, video or phone
Choosing between video, on-site and phone for company meetings
Video suits many company meetings. Another setting is the better choice in the cases below.
On-site
Book an interpreter in person for plant visits and for meetings where a whole team sits in one room.

Can't find it here?
01Which platforms can the interpreter join?
Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and the Texliff room, which opens in the browser without installing anything. Add your meeting link to the booking, or ask us to create one.
02Is an HR meeting kept confidential?
Yes. The interpreter is under an NDA, the connection is encrypted, and nothing is recorded unless you ask.
03Can the interpreter join a remote supplier audit?
Yes. The interpreter joins the auditor's call and interprets while plant staff show the floor on a phone or tablet. Put the audit schedule in the booking notes.
04How is a video meeting priced?
Hours are priced at an hourly rate, and you see the total before you pay. Book more time than the same meeting would take in English, because each speaker pauses for the interpretation, and unused time is not refunded.
05Can we ask for the same interpreter in a series of meetings?
Name the interpreter in the booking notes. We book the service rather than a particular person, so we take the request into account and assign them when they are available.
06Which languages do you cover by video?
70 languages. Mandarin, Spanish, Korean, Portuguese, Vietnamese and Arabic are the easiest to schedule. Rare languages, such as Burmese or Pashto, need more notice.
07Are your Japanese interpreters certified?
Yes. Court-certified and medically credentialed Japanese interpreters are assigned to legal and clinical matters — Federal Court Interpreter Certification, state court rosters, CCHI / NBCMI for medical. For community, educational and corporate settings we assign professionally trained interpreters matched to the subject.
