Typical Ukrainian bookings
Meetings we interpret
Enrollment meetings by video follow the same forms as in the office. Tell us which kind of meeting it is, so the interpreter can prepare the terms.
A family new to the area enrolls a child for the first time. Staff go through the forms with the parent, and the interpreter interprets every question and answer.
A child moves from another school during the year. Staff ask about earlier school records and explain the class the child will join, and the parent can ask about both.
A parent registers a child for kindergarten. Staff explain the forms one by one, and the interpreter interprets each form as it is explained, along with every question the parent asks about it.
Video enrollment
Enrollment is usually done in person, at the school office or a district center, with the family's papers on the desk. Video is used when the parent cannot come in, or when no interpreter for the family's language works nearby. The school sends one link, the parent joins it, and the interpreter joins the same link as a guest. Staff and parent can go through a form together on the shared screen.

Enrollment staff, such as a registrar, ask for the child's details and explain each form. The parent or guardian answers, gives the family's contact details and asks about the school. ESL or newcomer staff may join, and the student sometimes does too. The interpreter is one more person on the call.
The interpreter lets the parent follow the forms and the questions as easily as the staff member does. Each question on a form, each explanation and each answer from the parent is interpreted in full, in both directions. The interpreter stays neutral, keeps what they hear confidential, and does not give advice or explain the school's rules on their own.
Each form question
Ask the parent to have the child's records at hand, such as the birth certificate, the vaccination records and proof of residence. Put the child's name and the list of forms in the booking notes, so the interpreter has seen terms such as home language survey and emergency contact before the call. Send the parent the meeting link ahead of time.
On-site, video or phone
Video suits an enrollment meeting where people are in different places. A few cases call for another setting.

Book an interpreter in the office when the family brings the papers to the school, so staff can check them on the spot.
On-Site Interpretation for School Enrollment Meetings
Video fits an enrollment meeting where the parent joins from home and staff go through the forms on a shared screen.

Phone fits a short call about a missing record or an appointment time, when no form has to be filled in.

Dispatcher runs and assigns an interpreter

What you receive
Every file and session is covered by an NDA and sent over an encrypted connection. Clinical matters are handled in line with HIPAA.
If you also need translations
Certified translations are into English, arrive as a PDF and are priced by word count. Enrollment usually comes with the records below.
A transcript from the school the child attended before, translated into English so staff can read the child's earlier grades.
Vaccination records from abroad, translated into English so staff can read them during the meeting.
A birth certificate, translated into English as proof of the child's age.
FAQ
The ones we hear most often, answered by our dispatch and project-management teams.
Can't find it here?
Yes. Add the link when you book, or in the dashboard later, and the interpreter joins as a guest on Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet. Without a link, we create one in the Texliff room.
Yes. The interpreter stays for the whole booking, so every child can be enrolled in the same meeting if you booked enough time.
The interpreter interprets the questions on the forms and the parent's answers, and does not advise the parent on what to write.
A phone interpreter fits that family. Everyone dials the number in your confirmation, and nobody needs an app.
The price is by the hour for the hours you book, shown as a total before you pay. A form is read out and answered in two languages, so an enrollment meeting takes longer than one in English.
70 languages. Spanish, Arabic, Haitian Creole and Vietnamese are the easiest to schedule, and rare languages such as Burmese or Pashto need more notice.
Yes. Court-certified and medically credentialed Ukrainian interpreters are assigned to legal and clinical matters — Federal Court Interpreter Certification, state court rosters, CCHI / NBCMI for medical. For community, educational and corporate settings we assign professionally trained interpreters matched to the subject.
