Matche
Our dispatcher assigns the interpreter by the type of call. Legal aid calls get a court-certified interpreter, health program calls a medically credentialed one, and benefits calls an interpreter who has done social services appointments before.

Calls to clients
Phone suits contacts that do not need a screen or a room. Nonprofits book these six kinds of calls.
The interpreter takes part in the first call with a client who has just asked for legal help.

On the phone
Nonprofits use the phone for calls that need no screen or room, such as a first call to a client who asked for help, a check on a benefits application or a follow-up after a health visit. Everyone dials in from any phone, so a client who has no video or app can still take part. Interpreters dial in from anywhere in the US, so a language with no interpreter nearby is still possible to book.

Staff dial in from the office or from home, and the client dials in from any phone. Once everyone is on the line, the interpreter can add a third party to the call, such as a family member or another staff member. The interpreter is a voice on the line, not a person in the room.
Without a picture, the clearest way to work is one speaker at a time. Staff say a short part and stop, the interpreter interprets it, and then the client answers. Each part is interpreted in full and in both directions. The interpreter is neutral and keeps the call confidential, and does not advise the client or speak for the organization.
On a call
Because everyone dials in, the client needs the dial-in number and the access code before the call. Both are in the confirmation, so copy them into a text or an email to the client together with the date and time. Staff can dial in from any phone as well.
Sou plas, pa videyo oswa pa telefòn
Phone reaches clients wherever they are, but nobody can see a form or an exam. Choose by what the contact needs.

Book in person for exams, for forms filled in together at the table, and for appointments at your site.
Entèpretasyon sou plas pou òganizasyon san bi likratif
Video is better for a consultation or a counseling session where papers are shared on screen.
Entèpretasyon a distans pa videyo pou òganizasyon san bi likratif
Phone fits intake calls, benefits questions and follow-ups where nothing has to be shown.

Sa ou resevwa
Chak fichye ak chak sesyon kouvri anba yon NDA epi voye sou yon koneksyon chifre. Dosye klinik yo trete an akò ak HIPAA.
Si ou bezwen tradiksyon tou
Nothing can be shown on a call, so papers in another language are best translated into English first, as PDFs priced by word count.
Birth, marriage and divorce certificates that a client mentions at intake, translated into English for the legal aid file.
Vaccination and medical records from abroad that a health program asks for.
Transcripts and diplomas that a family needs for school enrollment.
