Phone interpreters for staffing agencies for pre-start calls, HR check-ins and injury statements

Phone fits calls where voices are enough and nothing needs to be shown. Name the kind of call when you book, so the interpreter knows what to prepare.

  • Pre-start calls

Before the first shift, the recruiter calls the worker through an interpreter about the schedule, the site and what to bring.

    Typical calls

    • Start date and schedule
    • Directions to the site
    • What to bring on day one
    Phone Interpretation for Employee Onboarding
  • Short policy briefings

A trainer without slides can brief drivers or field staff by phone, pausing every few sentences for the interpreter.

    Typical calls

    • Driver instructions
    • Field staff briefings
    • Updates to a site rule
Phone Interpretation for Employee Training Sessions
  • HR check-ins

The interpreter joins HR calls with a worker at a remote site, about attendance, pay and benefits.

    Typical calls

    • Benefits questions
    • Shift change questions
    • Check-ins with remote staff
    Phone Interpretation for HR Meetings
  • Injury statements by phone

The adjuster takes the worker's statement on a recorded line, with the interpreter named at the start.

    Typical calls

    • The injured worker's account
    • Follow-up questions
    • A co-worker's account
    Phone Interpretation for Recorded Statements
  • Injury claim calls

The agency or the insurer's adjuster calls an injured worker to report a claim or give a status update.

    Typical calls

    • First report of an injury
    • Status updates
    • Questions about the claim
    Phone Interpretation for Insurance Claims
  • Candidate screening calls

A recruiter screens a candidate by phone, and the interpreter interprets the questions about experience and availability.

    Typical calls

    • Experience questions
    • Availability and shifts
    • Questions about the job

Agency calls with workers

What to know about working with phone interpreters at a staffing agency

When phone is used

Agencies use phone when a worker can only join by phone, and for short calls that need no screen, such as a start date, a schedule change or a paperwork question. The recruiter books the call for a set time, and the worker dials in from wherever they are. The interpreter dials in from anywhere in the US, so a language with no interpreter near the branch is still possible.

Who is on the line

The recruiter or an HR representative dials in and asks the questions or explains the next step. The worker answers in their own language. The interpreter is on the line too. Once everyone has dialed in, the interpreter can add a client supervisor or an adjuster as a third party.

The interpreter's role

The interpreter's job is to give the worker the same clear information the recruiter has. On a call nobody can see who is about to speak, so each person speaks in turn and pauses for the interpreter. Every part is interpreted in full, in both directions. The interpreter is neutral, keeps the call confidential, and does not tell a worker what to decide about a job, pay or a claim.

Documents before the call

Nothing can be shown on a phone call, so a form, a schedule or a map has to reach the worker beforehand. Add the worker's name, the job title and the client site to the booking notes, so the interpreter knows the terms.

On-site, video or phone

Choosing between phone, video and on-site for staffing work

Phone needs only a phone to join, but a form or a screen cannot be shared on it. Choose by the kind of session.

How it works

How staffing agencies book a phone interpreter

  1. Enter your details and get your instant quote

Pick the call date and start time, and choose the worker's language and the kind of call. The price for the booked time shows right away.

  2. Place your order

Pay online to confirm. The dashboard shows a dial-in number and an access code to share with the worker, and you can add notes about the job there.

  3. Dispatcher runs and assigns an interpreter

Our dispatcher assigns an interpreter who has interpreted this kind of call and confirms the name to you.

  4. Join your session

When the call starts, everyone dials in. The interpreter adds anyone else who needs to join, and stays for the booked time.

What you receive

  • The interpreter's name, confirmed before the call starts.
  • A dial-in number and access code to share with the worker, kept in the project.
  • A change to video if the call needs a screen, subject to the interpreter's availability.

Every file and session is covered by an NDA and sent over an encrypted connection. Clinical matters are handled in line with HIPAA.

If you also need translations

If you also need documents translated for the placement

A phone call has no screen, so documents in another language are best translated into English before the call.

FAQ

Questions from staffing agencies about phone interpreters

The ones we hear most often, answered by our dispatch and project-management teams.

Can't find it here?

01Do workers need an app or a link to join?

No. Everyone dials in from any phone, using the number and code in your confirmation.

02How far ahead should we book a call with a worker?

At least 48 to 72 hours ahead, and earlier if you can.

03Who records a statement taken by phone?

The adjuster or investigator, on their own line. Sessions on our side are not recorded unless you ask.

04Can we ask for the same interpreter on every pre-start call?

Name the interpreter in the booking notes. We book the service rather than a particular person, so we take the request into account and assign them when they are available.

05How is a short check-in priced?

By the time you book, with the total shown before you pay. Book the full call, since unused time is not refunded.

06Which languages do you interpret by phone for staffing agencies?

70 languages. Spanish, Tagalog, French, Korean and Russian are the easiest to schedule, and rare languages need more notice.
