Interpretation demand is heaviest in naturalization, hospital geriatrics, and legal aid. Dialect matters — Northern (Hanoi), Central (Huế), and Southern (Saigon) Vietnamese have clear phonological and lexical differences.

Cases we interpret
An interview by video reaches a witness wherever the witness is. Attorneys and investigators book us for it in the four kinds of cases below.
Attorneys interview people who saw a car crash, a fall or an unsafe site, to learn what happened before anyone is deposed. Street names, vehicles and injuries are easier to interpret when the incident report is in the booking notes.
Co-workers and supervisors are interviewed about a firing, a pay dispute or a complaint. Send the names of the people involved and their job titles, so the interpreter has them before the call.
Investigators interview witnesses about a claim under review, for an insurer or for an attorney. Put the claim number and the names of the people involved in the booking notes.
Witnesses in business disputes are asked about contracts, shipments and payments. Send the contract name, the company names and the dates ahead, and the interpreter can prepare the terms.
Remote witness interviews
A witness interview is an informal conversation held before a deposition or a trial, to learn what the witness knows. It is held by video when the interviewer and the witness are in different places, or when no interpreter for the witness's language works nearby, because our interpreters join from anywhere in the US. The interviewer sends the link, and the interpreter joins it as a guest.

The interviewer, an attorney or an investigator, asks the questions and listens. The witness tells what they saw and heard. A paralegal sometimes joins to take notes. There is no court reporter and no oath. The interpreter joins the same call as the others, and the interviewer and the witness speak to each other.
The interpreter works from the same link as everyone else and speaks in the first person. A recording, if the interviewer makes one, then holds the witness's words as the witness said them. Everything the interviewer and the witness say is interpreted in full. The interpreter is neutral, keeps the interview confidential, and does not suggest answers, comment on what is said or explain anything of their own.
With a photo
On video, the interviewer can share a photo of the scene, a map or a document and ask the witness about it. The interpreter interprets each question about what is shown and each answer, so the notes connect the witness's words to the right picture.
On-site, video or phone
Video fits an interview where the interviewer and the witness are in different places. The other settings work better in the cases below.

Book an interpreter in person when you visit the witness at home or at work, or when the witness has no device for a video call.
On-Site Interpretation for Witness Interviews
Video fits when the interviewer wants to see the witness and share a photo or a document on screen.

Phone fits a short first contact or a follow-up question, when nothing has to be shown.

What you receive
Every file and session is covered by an NDA and sent over an encrypted connection. Clinical matters are handled in line with HIPAA.
If you also need translations
Papers the witness mentions can be translated into English as a certified translation from the same account, priced by word count.
Statements, letters and text messages in the witness's language, translated into English so the attorney can read them and add them to the file.
Medical records from clinics abroad, for injury cases where the witness knows about the treatment.
Contracts and company records the witness refers to in a commercial case.
FAQ
The ones we hear most often, answered by our dispatch and project-management teams.
Can't find it here?
Yes. Links for Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet work, and a Texliff room opens in the browser. If you have no link, we create a Texliff room and add it to the project.
Recording is the interviewer's decision. Sessions are not recorded by us unless you ask, and the interpreter works the same either way.
Anyone can place the order. The booking is in the name of the investigator, the paralegal or the firm that books it.
You can ask for it in the booking notes. A booking is for the service, not for a particular interpreter, so we take the request into account and assign them when they are available.
You pay by the hour for the hours you book, with the total shown first. Book more time than the questions alone suggest, because the witness's account is interpreted in full.
70 languages. Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, Haitian Creole, Tagalog and Portuguese are the easiest to schedule. Languages like Burmese or Pashto are scheduled with more notice.
Yes. Court-certified and medically credentialed Vietnamese interpreters are assigned to legal and clinical matters — Federal Court Interpreter Certification, state court rosters, CCHI / NBCMI for medical. For community, educational and corporate settings we assign professionally trained interpreters matched to the subject.
Southern Vietnamese (Saigon) is most common in U.S. communities outside the DMV; Northern Vietnamese is used in government and formal media. We match dialect to the speaker's region of origin.
