Sessions insurers book
Video interpreters for insurance companies for claim interviews, statements, examinations and hearings
Claims units usually book one of six sessions, and the cards link to the pages for them by video.
Claim interviews
The interpreter joins the adjuster's video call with a claimant or policyholder who speaks another language.
What to know about working with video interpreters at an insurance company
When insurers use video
Claims units use video when the claimant and the adjuster are in different places, for example when the claim is handled in one state and the claimant lives in another. Video also suits recorded statements and examinations that the examiner gives remotely. When no interpreter for the claimant's language works near the claimant, video is the other choice, because the interpreter can join from anywhere in the US.
Who takes part
The adjuster or investigator asks the questions and records what the claimant says. The claimant or policyholder describes the loss or injury in their own language. In an examination, the examining doctor takes the history and gives the instructions for the exam. The interpreter joins as one more participant and speaks to each side in their language.

The interpreter's role
The interpreter works for neither the insurer nor the claimant. Every question is interpreted in full for the claimant, and every answer in full for the adjuster, in the first person, so the file holds the claimant's own words. The interpreter does not explain coverage, comment on a claim decision or answer for the claimant, and keeps what they hear confidential.

Claim details in the booking
Add the claim number, the claimant's name and the kind of session to the booking notes, so the interpreter can prepare. A recorded statement, an examination and a hearing on the same claim are separate sessions, and each is its own booking. Names of treating providers help the interpreter prepare for medical terms.
On-site, video or phone
Choosing between video, on-site and phone for claims work
Video suits most claim interviews and statements. Another setting is better when the adjuster has to be at the loss, or when the claimant has no video.
On-site
In person is the better choice for a home inspection after damage, or for an exam where the doctor needs to see the claimant.
The ones we hear most often, answered by our dispatch and project-management teams.
Can't find it here?
01Can the interpreter join a call the adjuster has already set up?
Yes. Add the link to the booking, and the interpreter joins as a guest on Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet. Without a link, we create a Texliff room that opens in the browser.
02What if the claimant cannot join by video?
Book a phone session for that claimant instead. Everyone dials in to the number in your confirmation, with no app or link.
03Can one interpreter work with a claimant and a witness who speak different languages?
No. A second language needs its own booking, and both bookings can share the same link.
04How is a video session priced?
By the hour, for the hours you book, and the total shows before you pay. Book enough time for a statement or an examination, because every question and answer is said twice and unused time is not refunded.
05Are claim sessions kept confidential?
Yes. Every session is covered by an NDA, connections are encrypted, and sessions are not recorded unless you ask. Clinical sessions are handled in line with HIPAA.
06Which languages do you interpret for claims?
70 languages. Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese and Arabic are the easiest to schedule, and rare languages such as Burmese or Pashto need more notice.
07Are your Punjabi interpreters certified?
Yes. Court-certified and medically credentialed Punjabi interpreters are assigned to legal and clinical matters — Federal Court Interpreter Certification, state court rosters, CCHI / NBCMI for medical. For community, educational and corporate settings we assign professionally trained interpreters matched to the subject.
