Asignación

Intérprete asignado según el ámbito

Our dispatcher starts with the interpreters closest to the address and matches one to the appointment. Legal aid gets a court-certified interpreter, health visits a medically credentialed one, and the rest an interpreter experienced in that kind of meeting. You see the name before the day.

Appointments in person

On-site interpreters for nonprofit organizations at legal aid meetings, resettlement appointments and programs

Nonprofits book an interpreter in the room for these six kinds of appointments, at their own office, a partner clinic or a community center.

At your site

What to know about on-site interpreters for nonprofit organizations

When in-person is used

Nonprofits book an interpreter in person when clients come to the organization's office, a partner clinic or a community center. Legal aid clinics, resettlement programs and community health programs all hold appointments this way. The interpreter reports to the site named in the booking and works there. For a language with few interpreters in the area, the interpreter may travel from another city, and the trip is quoted as a separate line.

Who takes part

The client or patient is the person who needs the interpreter, and a family member sometimes joins. On the organization's side, an attorney, a case manager, a nurse or a program worker leads the appointment, depending on the program. The interpreter sits with the client and interprets for both sides.

The interpreter's role

The interpreter's job is to make the conversation as clear as it would be if staff and client spoke one language. Everything is interpreted in full, in both directions and in the first person, so the client's words reach staff as they were said. The interpreter is neutral and treats everything heard as confidential. They do not advise the client, speak for the organization or explain a program's rules.

Several appointments in one booking

When a day has several clients in a row, such as a clinic day, book one interpreter for the whole block of hours in one language, and list the appointments in the booking notes with the clients' first names. A second language needs its own booking, which can use the same address.

Presencial, por video o por teléfono

Choosing between on-site, video and phone for nonprofit work

Most nonprofit appointments happen at your site, but some programs reach clients elsewhere. Choose by where the client and the staff are.

Preguntas frecuentes

Questions from nonprofits about on-site interpreters

Las preguntas que escuchamos con más frecuencia, respondidas por nuestros equipos de despacho y gestión de proyectos.

¿No encuentra lo que busca?

01Can a grant-funded program book online?

Yes. Grant-funded programs book at texliff.com/quote like any other customer, and the booking is in the name of the organization that places the order.

02Do you send interpreters outside large cities?

We serve all 50 states. Large metro areas have the densest coverage, and outside them we still send an interpreter, with more notice.

03Can the interpreter join a home visit?

Yes, when the visit is at one address. The interpreter reports there and interprets there, and each further stop is its own booking.

04How long should we book for a legal or health appointment?

The rate is per hour, and the total shows before you pay. Book a little longer than the appointment is likely to take, because every sentence is interpreted and unused time is not refunded.

05What if an appointment is rescheduled?

Cancellation is in writing. Under our written cancellation terms, a booking cancelled more than seven days ahead is refunded in full, one cancelled from seven days down to 48 hours ahead is refunded 75%, and a later cancellation is not refunded.

06Which languages are easiest to schedule?

70 languages. Spanish, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese and Russian are the easiest to schedule. Burmese, Pashto and other rare languages need more notice, so book once the appointment is set.
