Claims in person

What to know about working with on-site interpreters at an insurance company

When the interpreter comes in person

Claims sessions are held in person when the adjuster has to see the loss, when the doctor has to examine the claimant, or when the hearing is held at the board's office. The interpreter comes to the address you give us and works there with the claimant. Our dispatcher looks first for interpreters closest to that address, so enter the address where the visit takes place.

Who takes part

At a home inspection, the adjuster looks at the damage and asks the policyholder about it. At an examination, the doctor examines the claimant and takes the history. At a hearing, a judge hears the case, and attorneys speak for the worker and for the employer or insurer. The interpreter is in the room with the claimant and interprets for them.

The interpreter's role

The interpreter's job is to make the visit as clear for the claimant as it is for the adjuster. Each question and each answer is interpreted in full, without summaries. If the claimant asks about a decision, the question and the adjuster's reply are interpreted as they are said. The interpreter takes neither side, adds no advice of their own and keeps what they hear confidential.

Address and access

Give the street address, the unit and the person who meets the interpreter, and add any entry rules, such as a gate code or a check-in desk, to the booking notes. The interpreter reports to one address. If the adjuster visits two properties in a day, book each address as its own session.

Presencial, por video o por teléfono

Choosing between on-site, video and phone for claims work

An interpreter at the address suits visits where something has to be seen or examined. Video and phone work for conversations that need only voices or a screen.

Cómo funciona

How insurers book an on-site interpreter

Choose the date and start time, give the address and the claimant's language, and name the kind of session. The price for the booked hours shows right away.

  2. Haga su pedido

Pay online to confirm. In the dashboard, add the claim number, the claimant's name, the unit and the contact at the address.

Our dispatcher searches near the address first, picks an interpreter matched to the session, and confirms the name.

The interpreter arrives at the address and introduces themselves to the adjuster or examiner, then interprets until the booked hours end.

Preguntas frecuentes

Questions from insurers about on-site interpreters

01What if the claimant lives far from a large city?

We cover all 50 states. Coverage is densest in large metro areas, and away from them an interpreter can still be sent with more notice, so book as soon as the date is set.

02Can we ask for the same interpreter at a second visit on the same claim?

You can ask for it in the booking notes. A booking is for the service, not for a particular interpreter, so we take the request into account and assign them when they are available.

03What if the claimant has to reschedule the visit?

Cancellation is in writing. The refund is full more than seven days before the session, 75% from seven days down to 48 hours before, and none in the last 48 hours.

04How is an on-site session priced?

By the hour, for the hours you book, and the total shows before you pay. Book the whole interview or exam, because the interpreter is reserved for the full booking and unused time is not refunded.

05How far ahead should we book?

At least 48 to 72 hours ahead, and earlier if you can.

06Which languages can we book for in-person claims work?

70 languages. Russian, Korean, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish and Mandarin are the easiest to schedule, and rare languages such as Burmese or Pashto need more notice.
