Agency sessions in person

What to know about working with on-site interpreters at a staffing agency

When the interpreter comes in person

Agencies book an interpreter in person when workers gather at one address, such as the branch for an orientation or the client's site for a training. In person also works when forms are filled out at the table during the session. The interpreter comes to the address you give us, and our dispatcher looks first for interpreters closest to it.

Who takes part

At a first-day orientation, the recruiter or an onboarding staff member explains the forms and policies, and the new workers listen and ask questions. At a site training, a trainer presents to the group. At an HR meeting, the HR representative and the worker talk. The interpreter sits with the workers and interprets for them.

The interpreter's role

The interpreter's job is to give workers the same clear information an English-speaking hire gets. Each explanation is interpreted in full, and each question from a worker is interpreted back, with nothing added or left out. At a site training, the trainer stops after every few sentences for the interpreter. The interpreter is neutral, keeps what they hear confidential, and does not advise a worker on pay or whether to sign.

Site rules and training time

Put the site's check-in steps and safety gear rules in the booking notes, such as the gate, the badge desk and the contact who meets the interpreter. A training with an interpreter runs longer than the same training in English, so book the full length of the session and its breaks.

Presencial, por video o por teléfono

Choosing between on-site, video and phone for staffing work

An interpreter at the site suits sessions with forms to fill out or equipment to see. Remote settings work for talks that need only voices or a screen.

Cómo funciona

How staffing agencies book an on-site interpreter

Give the address of the branch or the client site, the date, the start time and the workers' language. The price for the booked hours shows right away.

  2. Haga su pedido

Pay online to confirm. In the dashboard, add the check-in steps, the contact on site, parking and any slides or forms the workers will see.

Our dispatcher looks for interpreters closest to the address first and confirms the name of one who has interpreted this kind of meeting.

The interpreter checks in at the site, meets the recruiter or trainer, and sits with the workers for the booked hours.

Qué recibe

  • The interpreter's name, confirmed before the day.
  • Travel inside the metro area as part of the hourly rate, with a longer trip quoted as a separate line.
  • A confirmation in the dashboard and by email, in the agency's name.

Preguntas frecuentes

Questions from staffing agencies about on-site interpreters

01Can we pass the interpreter's name to the client's front desk?

Yes. You get the name before the day, so you can send it to the site's front desk.

02Can we ask for the same interpreter for a second day of training?

You can ask for it in the booking notes. A booking is for the service, not for a particular interpreter, so we take the request into account and assign them when they are available.

03Can one interpreter work with a group of new hires?

Yes, when they share one language. For a second language, book another session, which can run in the same room.

04How is a training or orientation priced?

By the hour, for the hours you book, with the total shown before you pay. Book the training and its breaks, since unused time is not refunded.

05How far ahead should we book?

At least 48 to 72 hours ahead, and earlier if you can.

06Which languages can we book for a client site?

70 languages. Spanish, Vietnamese, Haitian Creole and Portuguese are the easiest to schedule, and outside large metro areas or for a rare language, plan more notice.
