Briefings by phone

Phone interpreters for employee briefings with drivers, field staff and remote employees

A phone briefing works when employees cannot gather in one room and the message needs no slides. Employers book it in these situations.

Policy updates

A manager explains a new rule, a changed schedule or a reminder about procedures to employees who speak another language. Send the written policy beforehand, so the interpreter knows the terms.

Drivers and field staff

Drivers and field staff work along routes and at many sites, so a briefing by phone reaches them without a room. Anyone with a phone can dial in, and no app or link is needed.

Safety reminders

A supervisor repeats a safety rule to employees who speak another language, in short parts. A lesson that needs slides or a demonstration is better held on video or in person.

Phone briefings

What to know about phone briefings with an interpreter

When phone is used

A briefing by phone is used for short messages that need no slides, such as a policy update for drivers or field staff who are not in one place. A full training with slides or a demonstration is held in person or on video instead. Phone also helps when no interpreter for the language works near the employees, since the interpreter dials in from anywhere.

Who is on the line

The trainer or manager dials in and gives the briefing. The employees dial in from their own phones and can ask questions. A supervisor may join to follow the message. The interpreter dials in too, and can add a third party to the call once everyone is on the line.

The interpreter's role

With no faces to watch, the interpreter keeps the turns clear by interpreting after each part the trainer finishes. Every part is interpreted in full, and the employees' questions are interpreted back to the trainer. The interpreter is neutral, keeps the briefing confidential, and does not add rules or examples of their own.

A policy point

A written copy ahead

Nothing can be shown on the call, so send the written policy to the employees beforehand, and add it to the booking for the interpreter. Keep the message to a few points, and let the trainer pause after each one. A longer lesson is held on video or in person.

Choosing between phone, video and on-site for employee training

Phone fits a short message. A lesson with slides or a classroom needs another setting.

FAQ

Questions about phone interpreters for training briefings

Celles que nous entendons le plus souvent, auxquelles répondent nos équipes de répartition et de gestion de projet.

Vous ne trouvez pas la réponse ?

01Can a briefing for drivers be interpreted by phone?

Yes. The confirmation includes a dial-in number and an access code, and everyone dials in from any phone at the booked time.

02What if the briefing turns out to need slides?

If it does, we can switch the booking to video, depending on the interpreter's availability.

03Can the briefing be repeated for a second shift?

Yes. Book each briefing as its own session, and ask for the same interpreter. We assign them when they are available.

04How long should we book for a briefing?

Book the length of the message plus the pauses. The total for the booked time shows before you pay, and unused time is not refunded.

05Is the briefing recorded?

We do not record sessions unless you ask. Every session is covered by an NDA.

06Which languages can you interpret by phone for trainings?

70 languages. Spanish, Haitian Creole, Mandarin, Vietnamese and Arabic are the easiest to schedule, and rare languages need more notice.

07Vos interprètes en Créole haïtien sont-ils certifiés ?

Oui.
