Real estate in person

What to know about on-site interpreters for real estate clients

When the interpreter comes in person

Agencies book an interpreter in person for meetings at one address, such as a consultation at the agency's office, a lease signing at the property manager's office or a closing at the title company. In person suits an appointment where the client sits down with the papers and asks about each page. The booking is for that address, and the interpreter interprets there for the hours you booked.

Who takes part

At the table are the agent or property manager, who explains the terms, and the buyer, seller or tenant, who asks questions in their own language. At a closing, the staff of the title company run the signing, and the other party to the sale may be there. The interpreter interprets for everyone at the table.

The interpreter's role

The interpreter gives the client the same understanding of the meeting that an English speaker would have. The agent's explanations, the client's questions and the terms of the document are all interpreted in full, in both directions. The interpreter stays neutral, keeps the client's details confidential, and gives no advice on a price, a property or whether to sign.

One address per booking

A closing at the title company or a signing at the office is one booking at one address. Put the suite number, the parking and the check-in in the notes, along with the names of the parties and the property address. If you can, send the offer, the lease or the contract ahead, so the interpreter can prepare the terms.

Ce que vous recevez

  • The interpreter's name before the appointment, to share with the title company.
  • Travel inside the interpreter's metro area built into the hourly rate, with a longer trip quoted as its own line.
  • A confirmation in your dashboard and by email once the order is placed, with the address and the notes you added.

FAQ

Questions from real estate agencies about on-site interpreters

Celles que nous entendons le plus souvent, auxquelles répondent nos équipes de répartition et de gestion de projet.

Vous ne trouvez pas la réponse ?

01Can the meeting be at the client's home instead of the office?

Yes. Enter that address when you book, and the interpreter reports there for the hours you booked.

02Can the interpreter come along on house showings?

No. The interpreter reports to one address per booking. Book one for the meeting at the office, the property manager or the title company.

03How is an on-site appointment priced?

Booked hours are priced at an hourly rate, and the total shows before you pay. A closing with many documents takes longer when the agent pauses after each explanation, so book more hours than an English-only closing would need. Unused time is not refunded.

04How far ahead should we book?

At least 48 to 72 hours ahead, and earlier if you can.

05Quelles langues couvrez-vous sur place ?

70 languages. Spanish, Mandarin, Haitian Creole and Vietnamese are the easiest to schedule. Rare languages and offices far from a large city need more notice.

06Vos interprètes en Croate sont-ils certifiés ?

Oui.
