Calls district staff make

Phone interpreters for school districts for enrollment, special education and scheduling calls

A phone interpreter lets district staff reach a family in the family's language. Cards with a link lead to the page for that call by phone.

District phone calls

What to know about phone interpreters for district staff

When phone is used

District staff use phone for conversations a family can have from any place, such as a call from a welcome center about documents or a call from a special education coordinator after a meeting. The family needs only a phone. A coordinator can book a call for any school from the same dashboard, and a language few interpreters near the district speak can still be booked, because the interpreter dials in from anywhere in the US.

Who is on the line

A district staff member places the call. A special education coordinator calls about next steps after a meeting, an enrollment clerk calls about documents, and an evaluator takes the parent's history of the child. The parent or guardian answers and asks their questions. The interpreter dials in as well, so the staff member and the parent hear each other through one line.

The interpreter's role

On a call the voice is all there is, so the interpreter lets the speaker finish and then interprets that part in full. The parent can take part as fully as the staff member, because the replies go back the same way. The interpreter stays neutral, keeps the call confidential, and does not explain district decisions.

One confirmation per call

Each booking's confirmation has the dial-in number and access code for that call. A coordinator who books for several schools can pass them to the right staff member, who shares them with the parent. On the call, the staff member says a part and waits for the interpreter before the parent replies. If a call turns out to need a screen, we can change the booking to video, subject to the interpreter's availability.

Como funciona

How school districts book a phone interpreter

Choose the call date and start time, the family's language and the reason for the call. The price for the booked time shows right away.

  2. Faça o pedido

Pay online to confirm. Each booking opens in the same dashboard with its own dial-in number and access code, and staff can add notes such as the school and the student.

Our dispatcher assigns an interpreter who has interpreted school meetings before and confirms the name for each call.

  4. Entre na sua sessão

At the booked time, the staff member and the parent dial in with the number and code, and the interpreter is on the line until the booking ends.

O que você recebe

  • The interpreter's name for each call, confirmed before it starts.
  • A dial-in number and an access code in every confirmation.
  • Every call in one dashboard, with a confirmation by email.

Perguntas frequentes

Questions from school districts about phone interpreters

01What does a family need to join the call?

A phone, the dial-in number and the access code. There is no app and no link.

02Can the interpreter add someone to the call?

Yes. Once everyone is on the line, the interpreter can add a third party, for instance a school nurse who has to join from another building.

03Can the same interpreter take a family's calls each time?

Name the interpreter in the booking notes. We book the service rather than a particular person, so we take the request into account and assign them when they are available.

04How is a call priced?

The time you book sets the price, and the total shows before checkout. Book a little past the planned call, because the interpreter is reserved for the full booking and unused time is not refunded.

05Can one interpreter take calls in two languages?

No. A booking covers English and one other language with one interpreter, so a second language is booked separately.

06Which languages can a district book by phone?

70 languages. Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese, Russian and Portuguese are the simplest to schedule. Languages such as Burmese or Pashto are harder to staff and need more notice.

07Seus intérpretes de Espanhol são certificados?

Sim.
