Recebendo Árabe right

Visits in person

What to know about on-site interpreters at a clinic

When the interpreter comes in person

Most clinic visits are held in person, in an exam room with the patient, the doctor and often a nurse or medical assistant. The interpreter sits next to the patient for the whole visit, including the part where the doctor examines the patient. The interpreter reports to the one address you booked, and our dispatcher looks for interpreters closest to it first. Away from the large metro areas, an interpreter still comes, with more notice.

Who takes part

In the exam room, a nurse or medical assistant takes measurements and asks about medicines, and the doctor examines the patient and explains the diagnosis. The patient answers and asks questions, and a relative may come along to listen. The interpreter sits with the patient and interprets for each person in turn, including a question the patient asks the nurse.

The interpreter's role

The interpreter carries every sentence across, so the patient follows the clinic as well as an English speaker would. The doctor asks, the interpreter interprets, and the answer goes back in the first person, so the doctor hears the patient's own words. The interpreter gives no medical advice, does not restate the diagnosis in their own words, takes no side, and keeps what is said confidential.

Repeat visits

Many clinic patients return on a schedule for the same condition, such as a diabetes check or prenatal care. Each visit is its own booking, and you can ask for the same interpreter on every one. We assign them when they are available, and you get the name before each visit. Every question and answer is said twice, so allow a little more than the appointment slot.

Presencial, por vídeo ou por telefone

Choosing between on-site, video and phone for clinic visits

In person is the first choice for a visit that includes an exam. Video and phone fit when the visit looks like the cases below.

Como funciona

How clinics book an on-site interpreter

Enter the visit date, start time, the clinic's address, the patient's language and the kind of visit. The price for the booked hours shows right away.

  2. Faça o pedido

Pay online to confirm. The booking opens in your dashboard, where you add the suite, the doctor's name and anything the front desk asks visitors to do on arrival.

Our dispatcher finds a medically credentialed interpreter who works near the clinic, then confirms the name and credentials to you.

  4. O intérprete chega ao seu local

The interpreter arrives at the clinic and checks in. After that, the interpreter sits with the patient in the exam room for the booked hours.

O que você recebe

  • The interpreter's name and credentials, shared before the visit so the front desk can expect them.
  • Travel to the clinic included in the hourly rate, when the interpreter works in your metro area.
  • One price for the booked hours, shown before you pay, and a confirmation by email.

Perguntas frequentes

Questions about on-site interpreters at clinics

01Does the interpreter stay for the physical exam?

The interpreter stays for the booked hours and interprets the doctor's instructions during the exam, as well as the talk before and after it.

02What if the patient reschedules the appointment?

The refund terms are in writing. A full refund applies more than seven days before the visit, 75% between seven days and 48 hours before, and no refund applies in the last 48 hours.

03How is a clinic visit priced?

The rate is hourly, and the total for your booked hours shows before you pay. Unused time is not refunded, so book the slot with some margin for a visit that runs long.

04How far ahead should we book?

At least 48 to 72 hours ahead, and earlier if you can.

05Which languages are available at a clinic?

70 languages. Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Arabic, Korean and Russian are the easiest to schedule at a clinic, and rare languages need more notice.

06Seus intérpretes de Árabe são certificados?

Sim.

Distinguimos dialetos MSA, iraquiano, do Golfo, egípcio, levantino (sírio / libanês / palestino / jordaniano), sudanês e norte-africano (magrebino).
