Onde interpretamos

On-site interpreters for workers' compensation hearings at board offices and law offices

Put the address from the hearing notice in the booking. Our interpreters go to the places below for a workers' compensation case, and each card says what to tell us.

Board hearing offices

Many hearings are held in a hearing room at an office of the state workers' compensation board. Put the office address and the room in the booking, along with any check-in step at the front desk.

Law offices

Attorneys often prepare the injured worker at the law office before the hearing. Book that meeting as its own session, and ask for the same interpreter for the hearing.

Hearings in any state

We send interpreters in all 50 states. Put the state and the board's office in the booking, and our dispatcher looks for interpreters closest to that address first. Outside large metro areas, we still send an interpreter, with more notice.

In-person hearings

What to know about in-person workers' compensation hearings with an interpreter

When the interpreter comes in person

Many workers' compensation hearings take place in a hearing room at a state board office. When the injured worker attends, the interpreter reports to the address in your booking and sits beside them for the whole hearing. A longer trip, for example for a language few interpreters nearby speak, is quoted as its own line when you book.

Who takes part

The workers' compensation judge runs the hearing and rules on what is in dispute. The injured worker, the worker's attorney and the defense attorney, who acts for the employer or the insurer, are in the room. A hearing reporter records the proceeding. The interpreter sits beside the injured worker, so the worker hears everything in their own language.

The interpreter's role

The interpreter lets the injured worker follow the hearing in their own language. What the judge and the attorneys say goes into the worker's language, and the worker's answers go into English in the first person, in full, with nothing added or left out. The interpreter is neutral, keeps what they hear confidential, and does not advise the worker or explain the judge's rulings.

The board's interpreter rules

Some state boards keep their own list of approved interpreters, and the rules differ by state. Tell us the state and the board when you book, along with the hearing office and the room, and we match the interpreter to those rules.

Presencial, por vídeo ou por telefone

Choosing between on-site, video and phone for a workers' compensation hearing

In person is the usual choice when the injured worker attends a hearing at the board's office. The other two settings fit narrower cases.

Perguntas frequentes

Questions about on-site interpreters for workers' compensation hearings

Aquelas que ouvimos com mais frequência, respondidas pelas nossas equipas de expedição e gestão de projetos.

Não encontrou o que procura?

01Does the interpreter have to be on a board's list?

Some state boards keep their own list of approved interpreters, and the rules differ by state. Tell us the state and the board when you book.

02Can the interpreter stay for our talks with the client during a recess?

Yes, while the booked time lasts. Talks in a hallway or a side room are interpreted the same way, and the interpreter keeps them confidential.

03What should we tell the interpreter before the hearing?

Add the case number, the names of the judge and the attorneys, and the injured worker's job and treating doctors to the booking notes. The interpreter reads them before the hearing.

04How long should I book for a hearing?

Book the hours the hearing is set for, with extra for testimony. Price is by the hour and the total shows before you pay, and unused time is not refunded, because the interpreter is reserved for the whole booking.

05What happens if the hearing is rescheduled?

Cancellation is in writing. A full refund applies more than seven days before the hearing, 75% between seven days and 48 hours before, and none after that point.

06Which languages can we book an interpreter in?

70 languages. Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean, Haitian Creole and Portuguese are the easiest to schedule. Rare languages, and hearing offices far from a large city, need more notice.

07Seus intérpretes de Uzbeque são certificados?

Sim.
