When phone works

Phone interpreters for business calls about orders, check-ins and visits

A phone call suits a business question that can be settled by talking and does not need a screen. Three kinds of calls fit well.

Order follow-ups

A buyer calls a supplier about the status of an order, a change in quantity or a shipping question. The answers are spoken facts, so the call needs no screen.

Customer check-ins

An account manager calls a customer to ask how a delivery went or to confirm a renewal date. The customer dials in from wherever they are.

Setting up a visit

Before a visit, the two companies settle the date, the agenda and who will attend. Put the dates you want to propose in the booking notes, and book the time the call needs.

Business calls

What to know about business calls by phone with an interpreter

When phone is used

A business question goes by phone when it is short and nobody needs to see anything, such as a question about an order or a delivery date. Phone also suits people who cannot join a video call, for example someone on the road or at a site without a good connection. Longer meetings, and meetings with slides or drawings, are held by video or in person instead.

Who is on the line

A manager from your company leads the call and speaks for the company. The supplier or customer on the other end speaks the other language. Each of them dials in from any phone, and so does the interpreter. Once everyone is on the line, the interpreter can add a third party to the call, such as a colleague at another office.

The interpreter's role

There is no video, so the pauses between speakers are how everyone knows whose turn it is. One person speaks and stops, and the interpreter then says that part in the other language in full. The interpreter stays neutral between the companies, keeps the call confidential, and does not give opinions, advice or explanations of their own.

Numbers and files

Order numbers, part numbers, dates and prices are hard to follow by ear, so list them in the booking notes. Anything that has to be seen, such as a drawing or a price sheet, should be emailed to the other side before the call, because nothing can be shown on the line.

Presencial, por vídeo ou por telefone

Choosing between phone, video and on-site for a business meeting

Phone works for a call that only needs voices. Choose video or an interpreter in the room when people need to see something or each other.

Como funciona

How to book a phone interpreter for a business call

Enter the call date, start time and the language of the other side. The price for the booked time shows right away.

  2. Faça o pedido

Pay online to confirm. The booking opens in your dashboard with a dial-in number and an access code to share with the other side, and room for notes such as order numbers.

Our dispatcher assigns an interpreter who has interpreted business meetings before and sends you the name before the call.

  4. Entre na sua sessão

At the booked time, everyone dials in from any phone. The interpreter stays on the line for the time you booked.

O que você recebe

  • The interpreter's name, sent before the call.
  • A dial-in number and an access code, saved in your project, to pass to the other side.
  • A confirmation of the booking in your dashboard and by email.

If you also need documents translated before the call

A phone call has no screen, so documents in another language are best translated into English and sent to your team ahead of time.

Perguntas frequentes

Questions about phone interpreters for business calls

01Does everyone need an app or a link to join?

No. Everyone dials in from any phone, using the number and the access code in your confirmation.

02What if the call turns out to need a screen?

We can change the booking to a video session, subject to the interpreter's availability. Everyone then joins a video link instead of dialing in.

03Who sends the dial-in number to the other company?

You do. The number and the access code are in your dashboard, so you can send them to the supplier or customer before the call.

04How is a phone call priced?

By the time you book, and the total shows before you pay. Book longer than the call would take in one language, so the line stays open until the last point is settled.

05Is the call recorded?

We record a call only when you ask for it. The interpreter is under an NDA, as in every session, and connections are encrypted.

06Which languages can you interpret by phone?

70 languages. Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin and Korean are the easiest to schedule by phone, and rare languages need more notice.

07Seus intérpretes de Pachto são certificados?

Sim.
