Longer meetings about discipline or an investigation are better held on video or in person, where documents can be shared. The interpreter's role
On a call nobody can see who is about to speak, so the interpreter keeps the turns clear. HR and the employee each finish a thought and pause, and the interpreter interprets it in full, in both directions. The interpreter is neutral, keeps the call confidential, and does not advise the employee or explain HR policy in their own words.
