Lao divorce records come from Laos, and the type of paper matters. A divorce is final only when the court in the district where the couple lived issues a decree. A certificate signed by a village or district official who is not part of the court does not prove a divorce, and a U.S. office may ask for the decree behind it. The marriage record comes from the district government that registered it, and the Household Registration Book can also show a couple as husband and wife. We translate the decree or certificate you hold, both sides included.

Texliff's certified Lao translations are accepted by USCIS, the National Visa Center, state agencies, DMVs, schools and universities, courts and more. USCIS officers read a Lao divorce decree for the court that issued it, the date it became final and the names of both spouses as the passport spells them. Courts and state agencies check that the paper is a court decree and not a local official's note. Dates may follow the Buddhist Era, and the translation converts them and states them clearly. The signed statement of accuracy is what each office files with the translation.

Take a photo or a scan of the decree, every page, front and back. The word count sets the price and it shows before you order. A native Lao translator who works on court and civil records translates it, then a second linguist reviews the names, the finality date and the case number. You follow progress in your dashboard. The signed PDF arrives with a Certificate of Accuracy, a mailed hard copy is available on request, and rush options are available.
Names are kept exactly as registered, and each spouse is matched to the passport. Dates in the Buddhist Era, which runs 543 years ahead of the Gregorian year, are converted and stated clearly. The line that says when the divorce became final is translated as the court wrote it. Case and decree numbers and the Household Registration Book references are copied exactly. The court seal and the judge's signature are described where they sit, and custody or support terms are translated in full.
