A Romanian divorce is proved by one of two papers. A court that ruled on the case issues a Sentință Civilă. A Certificat de Divorț is issued instead when the divorce was handled by the civil status officer (ofițer de stare civilă) at the Mayor's Office where the marriage took place or where the spouses last lived together, or by a public notary. In Moldova, the Agency of Public Services issues the Certificat de divorț, an A5-sized certificate with a green and brown border, an ink stamp and the registrar's signature. We translate the certificate or ruling as you received it, including the back when it carries entries.

Texliff's certified Romanian translations are accepted by USCIS, the National Visa Center, state agencies, DMVs, schools and universities, courts and more. On a Certificat de Divorț, officers look for the date the divorce was registered and for both spouses' names matching the marriage record and the passport. On a Sentință Civilă they also read the case number and the court's ruling on the marriage. Clerks reading it for a new marriage license want the final date stated plainly. The signed statement of accuracy is what each of them files with the translation.

Take a photo or scan of the Sentință Civilă or the Certificat de Divorț, front and back, and upload it. The word count sets the price and it shows before you order. A native Romanian translator who works on civil records does the translation, and a second linguist reviews the names, dates and case numbers. You follow the order in your dashboard. The signed PDF comes with a Certificate of Accuracy, and a mailed hard copy is available on request. Rush options are available.
Each spouse's name is spelled the way the passport spells it, and a surname the wife took at marriage or went back to after the divorce is shown exactly as written. Dates are day first and become unambiguous English dates. The series and number on the certificate, the case number on a Sentință Civilă and the registration entries are copied exactly. The officer's or notary's title is translated, and ink stamps are described where they sit. Notes in the margin about a restored name are translated in full.

Romanian certificates follow standardized civil status layouts with series and number identifiers; every identifier carries over exactly. Romanian uses the Latin alphabet with ă, â, î, ș, and ț — all preserved in names exactly as issued.
