What to know

What to know about a Serbian divorce certificate translation

Where Serbian divorce judgments come from

A Serbian divorce certificate is a court judgment, not a registry extract. In Serbia the document is the Presuda o razvodu braka, a typewritten judgment from the Osnovni sud that decided the case, and certified copies come from the same court. Montenegrin judgments carry a wet seal, the ruling judge's name and a blue stamp on the first page that gives the day the judgment entered into force. Courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina issue a typewritten Presuda as well. Only a divorce granted by a civil court counts. We translate the judgment you were issued, from the first page to the last.

Where the translation is accepted

Texliff's certified Serbian translations are accepted by USCIS, the National Visa Center, state agencies, DMVs, schools and universities, courts and more. For a Serbian divorce certificate, USCIS officers look for the date the judgment became final, and on Montenegrin judgments that date sits in the blue stamp, so the translation carries it. Both spouses' names must match the marriage record and the passports. Courts and clerks read the operative ruling and any custody or support terms. The signed statement of accuracy is what each of them files with the translation.

Upload the judgment, get a certified PDF

Upload a photo or a scan of the Presuda, every page, with the stamps inside the frame. The word count sets the price and it shows before you order. A native Serbian translator who works on court and civil records translates it, a second linguist checks the names, the case number and the date the judgment took effect, and you follow each step in your dashboard. The signed PDF arrives with a Certificate of Accuracy, a mailed hard copy is available on request, and rush options are available.

What the translator checks on a Serbian divorce judgment

Both spouses' names are spelled the way their passports spell them, with š, č, ć, ž and đ kept. The case number and the court's name are copied exactly. Dates are written day first and become unambiguous English dates, and the date the judgment entered into force is found in the stamp or the clause and translated on its own. The wet seal and the judge's signature are described where they sit. Rulings on custody, support and a restored surname are translated in full, because that is what a clerk or an officer acts on.

FAQ

Serbian divorce certificate questions, answered.

The ones we hear most often, answered by our dispatch and project-management teams.

Can't find it here?

01Is a Serbian divorce certificate translation accepted by USCIS?

Yes. Every certified translation includes a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy meeting USCIS requirements, and the same format is accepted by courts, universities, and licensing boards.

02How are Serbian names spelled in the English translation?

Certificates are issued as register extracts; names keep their diacritics or are transliterated consistently from Cyrillic. Serbian is written in both Cyrillic and Latin alphabets — often within the same document set; we translate both and render names consistently.

03How are dates converted?

Dates are day-first and are re-expressed unambiguously.

04How much does a Serbian divorce certificate translation cost?

Pricing is by word count, not by page — a short document costs less than a dense one, and you see the exact total before paying. Certified translation starts at $24.95.
